For 2007 and later years, there is no annual limit for contributions to RESPs, however, the lifetime limit on the amounts that can be contributed to all RESPs for a beneficiary is $50,000.
The amount the Canadian Government will contribute to your child’s RESP varies each year and depends on your income and your contribution towards your child’s RESP that year. You may be eligible for up to a maximum of $7,200 through the Canada Education Savings Grant.
If your child was born after 2007, government contributions are based on your contribution room of $500 a year.
If you do not use that amount one year, you can use it next year.
